The latest game in the Batman Arkham series has been announced.
Batman: Arkham Knight will be Rocksteady Studios’ conclusion to the
critically acclaimed series, which started with Arkham Asylum and then
saw a sequel, Arkham City.
Unfortunately for Xbox 360 and PS3 owners, the game will only be available on PC, Xbox One and PS4, with a “2014” release date.
“In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the
ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow
returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including
Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever,”
read a press statement,
Arguably the most notable feature is the ability to drive Rocksteady’s unique version of the Batmobile.
“Batman: Arkham Knight is the pinnacle game of our hugely successful
franchise, and we are giving players the most expansive, impressive
title in the series,” said Martin Tremblay, President of Warner Bros.
Interactive Entertainment.
“The Rocksteady Studios team is continuing to focus on the excellent
gameplay for which they are known while delivering a thrilling new
experience for gamers and Batman fans.”
The last game in the series, Batman: Arkham Origins, was developed by
Warner Bros. Games Montreal and was a prequel to Arkham Asylum.
Although reviews for Arkham Origins were generally positive, it fell short of the standard set by the previous titles.
