Influencer Emilie Kiser is speaking publicly for the first time about the death of her 3-year-old son, Trigg, who drowned in the family’s backyard pool in May 2025. In a candid interview with Jay Shetty, the 27-year-old mother of two described how the tragedy showed her “in the scariest, most real way possible just how quickly life can change, and how quickly life can be literally taken away”.
Trigg drowned on May 12, 2025, after he fell into the family’s pool in Chandler, Arizona. Emilie was not home at the time. Her husband, Brady Kiser, was watching their younger son Teddy, who was just a few months old. Police later revealed Trigg had been unsupervised in the backyard for over nine minutes, spending about seven of those minutes in the water.
Chandler Police recommended a felony child abuse charge against Brady Kiser, but the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office declined to pursue charges in July 2025. Prosecutors concluded there was “no reasonable likelihood of conviction”. Brady’s attorney said the family is “grateful to law enforcement and the county attorney for conducting a thorough investigation and confirming that this was a tragic accident”.
In her interview, Emilie said she has a choice to make: “I can either let this completely derail me more than it already has, or I can do everything in my power to be the best mom I possibly can for him” . She has since used her platform to advocate for pool safety, urging parents to install fences, door alarms, and supervise children around water at all times.
Emilie has been open about the preventable nature of her son’s death, saying “drowning is the number one cause of death in children 3 and under”. She now works to ensure other families don’t experience the same loss, sharing safety messages across her social media channels and urging parents to take immediate action to protect their children around water.
