Fans hoping to spot a familiar face in the upcoming sequel will have to look elsewhere. The Sydney Sweeney cameo cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been confirmed, with sources calling the removal a “creative decision.” The Euphoria star filmed a scene for the highly anticipated film, but it won’t appear in the final version hitting theaters this month.

The scene in question would have appeared near the beginning of the film. Sweeney played herself in the brief appearance, getting dressed by Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton. The moment was meant to introduce Blunt’s character, now working as the head of Dior’s United States operation.

The sequence ran approximately three minutes. But during editing, the team realized something wasn’t working. A source explained that the scene “did not work structurally with the rest of the sequence.” The decision to remove it was described as difficult, with the production team expressing gratitude for Sweeney’s participation.

The removal appears to be purely structural. The film’s plot follows Andy Sachs, now an established journalist, reuniting with Miranda Priestly and Nigel Kipling to save Runway magazine from imploding. They seek help from Emily Charlton, who has climbed the corporate ladder since the original film.

Sweeney’s cameo was an extension of Emily’s introduction scene. When the editors assembled the full sequence, the cameo simply didn’t fit. Celebrity cameos getting cut during post-production isn’t unusual. Last year alone, several high-profile actors had their brief appearances removed from major films for similar structural reasons.

The screenwriter has also addressed the speculation directly, stating plainly that Sweeney is not in the movie. When asked about the photos that surfaced from the set, the response was simple: the rumors became a running joke during production.

The sequel arrives in theaters on April 30, 2026. The film brings back the original cast nearly two decades after the first movie became a cultural phenomenon. While Sweeney won’t be there, the sequel still promises plenty of fashion, drama, and Miranda Priestly’s signature glare.
