The Kylie Kelce not drinking alcohol conversation is gaining new attention after the podcast host revealed her reasons for staying sober. On the April 2 episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, the wife of former NFL star Jason Kelce explained her decision with characteristic bluntness. She told guest Caleb Hearon that her choice comes down to one word: control.
“I have control issues,” Kylie Kelce, no alcohol advocate, joked during the episode. “I don’t ever want to be out of control. I don’t really drink alcohol very much.” She added, “I can control not having to feel that way. I’ve never smoked anything in my whole life”.
Beyond control, Kelce has been transparent about another straightforward reason: she simply does not enjoy the flavor of alcohol. On her podcast’s recurring “You know what’s f***ed up?” segment, she noted that she would rather drink water, iced tea, or “a crispy Coke”. She has gone on record multiple times stating she does not usually drink, making her preferences clear to her audience.
Kelce’s sobriety regularly puts her in an uncomfortable position. She revealed that people constantly assume she is pregnant whenever she declines a drink. “This happens to me all the time,” she said. “When I said, ‘Oh, no, thank you,’ they said, ‘Are you pregnant?'”.
While she brushes it off, she used the moment to advocate for other women. She urged people to stop speculating about pregnancy based on drink orders, noting that someone could be struggling with fertility, recovering from addiction, or grieving a loss . Her advice is simple: “Offer her something else to drink and then move on. Or don’t offer something else to drink and move on. Another option: mind your business”.
Kelce and Jason share four daughters: Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finnley, 1 . She has described her family as the center of her world. Even during her pregnancies, she has stayed true to her alcohol-free lifestyle, partnering with Liquid Death on “Kegs for Pregs” canned water for expectant mothers.
