R&B singer-songwriter Jeremih has withdrawn from the highly anticipated “Boys 4 Life” tour just days before its scheduled launch, citing a serious medical condition that requires immediate and ongoing care. The 38-year-old artist, known for hits like “Birthday Sex” and “Don’t Tell ‘Em,” announced his departure from the 28-city trek through a social media statement shared by his team.
The “Boys 4 Life” tour, officially titled “The Millennium Tour Presents: The Boys 4 Life Tour,” was set to bring together early 2000s R&B heavyweights including B2K members J-Boog, Omarion, Lil Fizz, and Raz-B, alongside Bow Wow, Waka Flocka Flame, Pretty Ricky, Crime Mob, Amerie, Franchize Boyz, and Yung Joc. Jeremih’s presence on the bill had generated significant excitement among fans eager to hear his signature blend of contemporary R&B and hip-hop.
Jeremih’s team released an official statement through his Instagram account, revealing the severity of the situation without disclosing specific details about the diagnosis.
“Due to a serious medical condition, Jeremih will be unable to participate in the upcoming B2K tour scheduled to begin in March. He has been dealing with a health issue, and his condition continues to be closely monitored by his doctor,” the statement read.
The message struck a tone of cautious optimism while acknowledging the uncertainty ahead. “Jeremih and his team are focused on his care and recovery and are deeply grateful for the understanding, patience, and continued support from fans, partners, and the touring team during this time”.
Jeremih’s manager, Dilla, separately confirmed to TMZ that the singer’s condition “continues to be closely monitored by his doctor” and emphasized that the priority remains his care and recovery.
News of Jeremih’s sudden withdrawal sparked an immediate outpouring of support across social media platforms. Fans who had eagerly anticipated seeing the Chicago native perform took to comments sections to share their concern and well-wishes.
The response reflects the deep connection Jeremih has cultivated with his audience since bursting onto the scene in 2009 with his platinum-selling debut single “Birthday Sex.” That track topped the Billboard R&B charts and established him as an enduring presence in contemporary R&B.
The “Boys 4 Life” tour represented more than just another concert series for Jeremih. It placed him alongside artists who defined the R&B landscape during his formative years. Omarion of B2K had previously explained why Jeremih and the other featured artists were selected for the lineup, citing “a certain level of authenticity that we all had”.
For Jeremih, the tour would have marked his first major trek since joining 50 Cent on “The Final Lap Tour” in 2023. Between those appearances, he has maintained a steady presence in R&B, with songs like “Planez,” “Oui,” and “Down on Me” becoming streaming staples.
The tour schedule was packed, with 28 concerts stretching from the March 6 opener in Louisville, Kentucky, through late April. Major markets including Washington D.C., Houston, Brooklyn, Atlanta, and his hometown Chicago were all on the itinerary. Each of those dates will now proceed without him.
For now, details about Jeremih’s condition remain private. The use of the phrase “serious medical condition” in official communications suggests a significant health challenge, but neither Jeremih nor his representatives have offered further specifics.
This is not the first time Jeremih has faced serious health setbacks. In late 2020, he was hospitalized with COVID-19 and spent weeks in intensive care, at one point being placed on a ventilator. He survived after a lengthy battle that included kidney dialysis and other complications.
The current situation appears unrelated, but it underscores the fragility that can accompany even the most successful careers.
The “Boys 4 Life” tour will continue as scheduled, with the remaining artists carrying the show forward. But for fans who bought tickets hoping to hear Jeremih’s smooth vocals fill arenas across the country, the news lands with particular weight. The show will go on, just without one of the voices they came to hear.
As his team emphasized, the focus now is entirely on recovery. “Jeremih and his team are focused on his care and recovery,” the statement reiterated. Everything else, the tour dates, the missed performances, the disappointed fans, will have to wait.
