Actor and comedian Dave Coulier has shared a heartbreaking health update, revealing he is battling cancer for the second time in just over a year. The beloved Full House star, known as Uncle Joey, announced on Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with a form of oropharyngeal tongue cancer, following a routine check-up that caught the disease early.
The new diagnosis is P16 squamous carcinoma found at the base of his tongue. The news comes only months after Coulier was declared cancer-free from his previous battle with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, which he was diagnosed with in November 2024. Coulier stressed the two cancers are “totally unrelated,” but admitted that receiving the news was a “shock to the system.”
Fortunately, the prognosis for the tongue cancer is very good. Coulier shared that because of the early detection the cancer was found during a follow-up PET scan the curability rate is estimated to be over 90%. He is currently undergoing 35 rounds of radiation treatment, which he expects to complete by the end of December 2025.
The Dave Coulier Tongue Cancer Diagnosis has led the actor to use his platform to advocate for routine health checks. He urged fans to be proactive about their health, stating that early detection “saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well,” emphasizing the importance of regular medical screenings.
