Actress Nikki Reed has revealed she lives a minimalist lifestyle, proudly wearing the same clothes every day and relying on 15-year-old shoes she keeps resoling — all in the name of sustainability.
Best known for her role as Rosalie Hale in the Twilight saga, Nikki now lives far from the Hollywood spotlight. She shares a farm north of Los Angeles with her husband Ian Somerhalder, their two children, and a full house of 17 animals — including chickens, cows, cats, dogs, and goats.
Speaking on The Art of Being Well With Dr. Will Cole podcast, the 37-year-old star opened up about how her daily wardrobe reflects her values. “I wear the same clothes every day,” she said. “I’ve got vintage pants on and they’ve got a bunch of holes. My mom helps me patch the back of them because I wear the same pants. And I’m wearing the same shoes I’ve worn for 15 years. I just got them resoled. I resole them every three years because I wear them every day.”
But while she’s all about reusing and reducing, Nikki still cares about quality. “I don’t want more. I want less — but I want good,” she said. “Before I purchase anything at all, I think about where it’s made, how it’s made, and how long I’m going to wear it.”
Sustainability, she explained, is her “true passion,” and that’s reflected not just in her wardrobe but in every part of her lifestyle. Hollywood, she admitted, is now far behind her. “I don’t even often hear the word ‘Hollywood’ or ‘actress’ anymore at all in my orbit,” Nikki said. “I really am a nature gal, an animal gal. I’d much rather be barefoot walking through soil than in high heels anywhere.”
She’s also convinced that moving her family to the farm was the best decision they could have made. “In this day and age, we’re growing up in the age of tech, and I think the only way to really combat that is through nature,” Nikki told E! News previously. “We need some red light. We need some sun. We need some fresh air.”
For Nikki Reed, less truly is more — and she’s walking the talk, one resoled shoe at a time.
