Vince McMahon Involved in Car Crash, Set to Appear in Court

WWE co-founder Vince McMahon was involved in a car accident last week in Connecticut, resulting in significant vehicle damage and a court summons for reckless driving. The incident took place on Thursday, July 24, around 9am, when McMahon’s 2024 Bentley reportedly collided with a 2023 BMW 430 while heading northbound on Route 15 in Westport. His vehicle then slammed into a wooden-beam guardrail.

According to a crash report obtained by TMZ, debris from the impact flew across the road and caused a third vehicle—a southbound Ford Fusion—to strike it. Airbags deployed in both McMahon’s Bentley and the BMW, and all three cars sustained enough damage to require towing from the scene. Fortunately, all drivers were wearing seatbelts and no serious injuries were reported, although the guardrail was damaged over a 30-foot stretch.

Photos from the scene show Vince’s luxury vehicle with heavy damage near the front wheels, a detached driver-side fender, and a shattered rear tail light. The 79-year-old was issued a misdemeanour summons for reckless driving and following too closely and is scheduled to appear in court next month.

The crash happened the same day McMahon’s longtime friend and wrestling icon Hulk Hogan passed away at age 71. Hours later, Vince paid tribute on social media, calling Hogan “the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME” and praising him as a global phenomenon who left an enduring legacy in and beyond the ring.

This latest incident comes amid a turbulent few years for McMahon. He stepped down as WWE CEO in 2022 during an investigation into misconduct, returned briefly as executive chairman in 2023, and resigned from WWE’s parent company TKO Group in 2024 following a lawsuit filed by a former employee alleging serious misconduct—allegations he has denied.

As the court date approaches, McMahon’s legal and public battles continue to cast a long shadow over the wrestling empire he helped build.
