Longtime couple and television personalities Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have announced their separation after more than a decade of marriage.

“There Is No Other Party Involved”

In a joint statement released on Tuesday, July 29, the couple shared:

“We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.”

Cat, 48, and Patrick, 54, had been married since 2012 and share two sons, Milo (9) and James (7).

From Friends to Family

The couple’s story began over two decades ago when they co-hosted BBC’s Fame Academy. While their friendship blossomed early, it took nearly 10 years before romance followed. Their relationship turned serious when Patrick famously flew from Belfast to Los Angeles just to have brunch with Cat — a gesture that won her heart.

They wed in an intimate ceremony in Rome in 2012, and for years split their time between the UK and the US as Cat fronted So You Think You Can Dance in America and Patrick continued his work in the UK and Ireland.

The Move Back to the UK

In 2020, the family left Los Angeles and returned to the UK, citing safety concerns, especially after Patrick found himself in a terrifying active shooter lockdown at a shopping mall in LA. Recalling the incident, Cat once shared:

“He wanted to keep Milo calm, so I didn’t understand the enormity of what was happening. As I was driving, I began to see helicopters, news vans, firemen and SWAT squads. It makes me go funny now. It was terrifying.”

That moment prompted a major lifestyle change for the couple and their children, though Cat later admitted the move was emotionally tough:

“It doesn’t feel as safe as it used to be. There’s an edge which wasn’t there before… The health system is failing. After the pandemic, lots of vulnerable people with mental health issues have just fallen through the net.”

Careers Still Shining

Despite personal changes, both Cat and Patrick have continued to thrive professionally. Cat took over full-time presenting duties on This Morning in 2024, while Patrick remains host of Ireland’s The Late Late Show.

Though the marriage has ended, the couple emphasized that their focus remains on co-parenting their sons and maintaining family harmony privately.

Fans have flooded social media with well wishes for the duo, who have long been admired for their quiet, grounded approach to fame and family life.
