Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has officially stepped back into the solo spotlight — and she’s doing it on her own terms. On July 29, 2025, the 36-year-old singer surprised fans with the sudden release of her third solo album, Ego, available exclusively through her official website.
A Bold, Independent Release
The 17-track project is not available on traditional streaming platforms — at least not yet. Instead, fans must visit www.hayleywilliams.net and sign up for the mailing list of her vegan hair dye brand Good Dye Young to receive a 16-digit access code that unlocks the full album.
This unconventional release comes as no surprise to longtime fans. Hayley is now an independent artist, having fulfilled her previous major label deal, and Ego marks a definitive new chapter in her creative freedom.
A Glimpse Into Ego
The album includes the previously teased track “Mirtazapine,” which premiered on Nashville’s WNXP radio last week. The title, a nod to the antidepressant, set the emotional tone for what appears to be one of Hayley’s most introspective works yet.
Here’s the full Ego tracklist:
1. Kill Me
2. True Believer
3. BloodBros
4. Negative Self Talk
5. EDAABP
6. Ice In My OJ
7. Mirtazapine
8. Brotherly Hate
9. I Won’t Quit On You
10. Disappearing Man
11. Hard
12. Glum
13. Love Me Different
14. Whim
15. Discovery Channel
16. Dream Girl In Shibuya
17. Zissou
A New Era for Hayley
Fans have already begun decoding lyrics and themes across Ego, pointing to continued explorations of vulnerability, mental health, self-worth, and identity. Many see the album as a spiritual successor to her previous solo records:
• 2020’s Petals for Armor — a cathartic, alt-pop journey through trauma and healing.
• 2021’s Flowers for Vases / descansos — a stripped-down, acoustic heartbreaker dropped with little warning.
Recent Collaborations & What’s Next
Beyond her solo projects, Hayley has been actively collaborating. She lent her voice to:
• Turnstile’s “Seein’ Stars”
• Moses Sumney’s “I Like It I Like It”
• And most recently, she teamed up with David Byrne on the upcoming track “What Is the Reason For It?” from his forthcoming album Who Is the Sky?
Their creative chemistry has been building for years — Byrne once covered Paramore’s “Hard Times”, and Hayley covered the Talking Heads classic “Burning Down the House.”
No Streaming? No Problem.
There’s still no word on if or when Ego will hit streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music. For now, Hayley is embracing the direct-to-fan model — giving listeners an exclusive experience that feels more intimate and intentional.
Whether this rollout signals a longer-term shift in how she plans to share music or is simply a passion project made for the die-hards, Ego already feels like a landmark moment in her solo career.
If you want in, you’ll have to earn it — just like she did.
