Dafne Keen has revealed how much she enjoyed stepping back into the shoes of Laura Kinney (aka X-23) for the 2024 Marvel hit Deadpool & Wolverine.
The 20-year-old actress, who first captured hearts in 2017’s Logan, returned to the Marvel universe in last year’s fan-favorite team-up film alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Speaking during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Dafne expressed how exciting it was to revisit the character after several years—and this time, as part of a larger superhero ensemble.
“What was so special to me about putting her in a group was that I think the Wolverine character is an archetype, and therefore Laura, as an extension of that, is a lone wolf,” she explained.
“But putting her in a group shows that they do work in a team.”
Dafne’s portrayal of Laura—a stubborn, fierce, and independent mutant clone of Wolverine—was a major standout in Logan, and her return in Deadpool & Wolverine gave fans the rare treat of seeing a new dimension to the character.
“It was really fun to play with other people, and I think she works really well in a team, weirdly, even though she is such a stubborn, independent creature.”
Fans and critics alike praised her performance in the film, calling it a powerful and emotionally grounded contrast to the chaos and comedy that Deadpool & Wolverine is known for.
With rumors swirling that Marvel has even bigger plans for Laura Kinney in the future, Dafne’s enthusiasm for the role hints that we haven’t seen the last of the mutant badass.
