Gregg Wallace is officially done with the BBC — and with television altogether.
The 60-year-old MasterChef veteran, who was recently sacked from the popular cooking competition after 45 misconduct complaints were upheld, has now spoken out, making it clear he won’t be tuning in or returning to screens anytime soon.
In a candid interview with The Sun on Sunday, Gregg didn’t mince words:
“No, no, no, no. I’m hurt. I don’t want anything to do with telly. I don’t want anything to do with the BBC.”
Wallace, who denies all the allegations, slammed the broadcaster’s complaints system, calling for a serious overhaul.
“The whole complaints procedure needs to be readdressed — there are huge problems with it as things stand,” he argued.
While he acknowledged the “brilliant” moments during his MasterChef run, he said there were plenty of bad experiences too — including ones he never reported.
“Had I wanted to raise any complaints, I’d have had the decency to speak to that person directly. Privately, not publicly,” he said.
“Do you have any idea how many times I’ve been touched by women wanting a selfie? Groped? The suggestive comments I’ve received? It was happening regularly. But it wouldn’t even cross my mind to report it.”
Gregg believes the media narrative around presenters being bullies is often oversimplified, and says he personally endured mistreatment while trying to build his own TV career.
“The amount of times I’ve been shouted at and bullied… I don’t know what the answer is, but I wouldn’t wish anyone to be dragged through what I have.”
Despite the fallout, he harbours no ill will towards the show itself.
“Whoever hosts it next — and I really don’t care who it is — the show will be absolutely fine.”
