Top Boy Star Micheal Ward Charged with Rape and Sexual Assault

British actor Micheal Ward, best known for his role as Jamie in Top Boy, has been officially charged with two counts of rapetwo counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault.

The 27-year-old, who won the EE Rising Star BAFTA in 2020, is set to appear before Thames Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 28, in relation to allegations made by a woman concerning incidents that reportedly took place in January 2023.

Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, leading the Met Police investigation, stated that specialist officers are supporting the complainant, acknowledging the emotional toll such cases can take.

Catherine Baccas, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London South, emphasized the seriousness of the decision to charge:

“Having carefully reviewed a file of evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Micheal Ward.”

She also urged the public to avoid any online commentary or reporting that could jeopardize the fairness of the ongoing legal proceedings.

In response to the charges, Olivia Bell Management, the UK talent agency that previously represented Ward, confirmed they have severed ties with him:

“We no longer represent him,” a staff member told Deadline.

Ward rose to fame through Top Boy (2013–2022) and later worked alongside stars like Olivia ColmanColin FirthJoaquin Phoenix, and Emma Stone. His most recent project, Eddington, directed by Ari Aster, premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

As the legal process unfolds, Ward maintains the presumption of innocence. The case continues to draw widespread attention from fans, the film industry, and media worldwide.
