Peter Dinklage is diving headfirst into superhero sludge — and loving every second of it.
The Game of Thrones legend has revealed that signing on to play Winston Gooze in the upcoming horror-comedy remake, The Toxic Avenger, was a total no-brainer.
“It was the easiest thumbs up, probably ever,” Dinklage told fans at San Diego Comic-Con. “I’d never done a movie like this before or a role like this.”
The 56-year-old actor steps into the shoes (and slime) of a timid janitor who mutates into a grotesque crime-fighting anti-hero after falling into toxic waste — a modern reboot of the cult 1984 Troma Entertainment classic.
Why so easy? Dinklage says the script’s weird charm and director Macon Blair’s vision sealed the deal.
“It’s a leap of faith every time. You’re far from your family, your kids… so it has to be worth it. And this was.”
Set to hit cinemas on August 29, 2025, the remake also stars Elijah Wood, Kevin Bacon, and Blair himself. But here’s the twist: while Dinklage voices the mutated hero known as Toxie, the physical performance is handled by Luisa Guerreiro — and Dinklage couldn’t be more impressed.
“She nailed every single one of my mannerisms — even the ones I didn’t know I had. It was kind of scary… in a good way!”
Dinklage described the experience of voicing a character brought to life by someone else as “out-of-body” but said it fit the film’s quirky tone perfectly.
“It felt real and removed at the same time. Luisa was in Bulgaria, sweating in the suit in the middle of summer. I had to let go of control — and she absolutely crushed it.”
Known for playing complex characters with depth and grit, Dinklage is now stepping into the grotesque world of mutant justice — and loving every messy, mutant-filled minute of it.
Fans of cult films, superhero parodies, and dark humor should brace for a wild ride. The Toxic Avenger is not your average remake — and with Dinklage at the helm (or behind the mask), it’s sure to be one for the ages.
