Former Love Island USA star Hannah Smith has found herself in hot water following an incident at a local bar in Atlanta, Georgia. The 27-year-old reality TV personality, who appeared on the American version of the hit dating show in 2024, has been officially charged with making terroristic threats and wilful obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
According to court documents reviewed by TMZ, Smith allegedly lunged at police officer Kayla Winkfield and attempted to assault her during an outburst on September 30. Prosecutors claim that Smith also verbally threatened to kill the officer, leading to her arrest. The incident reportedly began when Smith was thrown out of the Roxy bar for being disorderly around 11:30 PM.
As she was being escorted outside, a policewoman tried to get her into an Uber, but Smith allegedly started attempting to punch the officer. This led to her being handcuffed, during which she also tried kicking the cop several times. While in the police car, Smith is said to have made chilling death threats against the officer and her sibling.
Smith was charged with terroristic threats and obstructing an officer by Cobb County police. She was released from jail the next day on $8,000 bail, with strict orders to avoid alcohol and drugs, and to undergo random alcohol and drug tests at her own expense. Her lawyer, Mike Hawkins, told TMZ that Smith has no memory of the events and deeply regrets any actions that offended anyone, including law enforcement.
This incident has certainly cast a shadow over Smith’s brief stint on Love Island USA, where she was a contestant in 2024 but didn’t stay long on the show.
