Toronto Pearson International Airport has reached new heights in 2024, adding eight airlines to its roster—more than any other large airport in North America this year. This milestone cements Pearson’s reputation as the region’s premier gateway for international travel, now hosting 54 airlines connecting passengers to over 180 global destinations.

The expansion highlights Pearson’s strategic growth, including the addition of 36 new routes and nine destinations this year alone. With over eight million international seats added since 2022, the airport leads North American hubs in connectivity growth, ensuring travelers enjoy unparalleled global access.

Among the new airlines and routes making waves in 2024:

Sun Country Airlines launched twice-weekly flights to Minneapolis in April, serving 100,000 annual travelers.

ITA Airways made its Canadian debut in May with daily summer flights to Rome.

Swiss International Air Lines introduced five weekly Zurich flights during the summer.

Alaska Airlines connected Toronto to Seattle with daily service, catering to 142,000 yearly passengers.

BermudAir began three weekly flights to Bermuda in May.

Hainan Airlines resumed weekly service to Beijing in November after a hiatus.

Qatar Airways launched three weekly flights to Doha in December, offering connections to the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

Royal Air Maroc ended the year with three weekly flights to Casablanca, serving over 200,000 passengers annually.

Deborah Flint, CEO of Toronto Pearson, celebrated the achievements, stating, “Toronto Pearson’s expanding network brings increased connectivity and economic benefits to Canada.” Recognized as North America’s top large airport six times in the past seven years, Pearson continues to innovate and deliver unmatched choices for travelers.

With its record-breaking growth and strategic additions, Pearson isn’t just a transportation hub—it’s a gateway to the world.
