Popular Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, better known as Basketmouth, has revealed his plans to focus full-time on music and filmmaking in 2025. Speaking in a recent interview with Pulse, the comedy icon opened up about his decision to dive deeper into his creative passions.
Basketmouth shared that music was actually his first career choice before comedy entered the picture. “I started with music but saw it wasn’t going to work,” he said. “Rap was my thing, but it wasn’t going the way I wanted. Then I tried comedy, and by fluke, it clicked. Once I hacked it, my career skyrocketed.”
Despite his success in comedy, Basketmouth admitted that his love for music and movies never wavered. He revealed plans to release EPs and collaborate with other artists, saying, “I’m going to take music more seriously in 2025. I want to create EPs because there are some artists I want to work with.”
Movies, however, hold a special place in his heart. “To be honest, movies are my first choice. I prioritize movies over comedy. It has always been like that, but I haven’t made a movie yet.”
The comedian reminisced about discovering his comedic talent back in primary school but said that music was initially his creative outlet. “Music was just a talent I felt I could use as a plaything,” he admitted.
Now, as he looks ahead, Basketmouth is ready to take on a new chapter in his career. Whether through music or filmmaking, fans can expect even more creative brilliance from the multi-talented entertainer in the coming year.
